E05 on the Valley Pro / Pro2

What it means on the Pro2

System safety circuit opened.

If the safety circuit stays open for 3 seconds, the machine shuts down. Most often a tower is out of line or a drive unit is stuck. Walk the machine and look for a tower out of line before anything else.

Before you touch anything

Reading the display and looking the machine over with every door and cover closed is fine. Anything past that means power shut off and locked out at the main disconnect first, and electrical checks belong to a dealer, an electrician, or someone qualified to be in the panel.

What it means on the Pro

System safety: possible tower misalignment, drive unit may be stuck.

Any short break in the safety circuit is logged as an E05, even one too short to stop the machine. If the circuit stays open for more than three seconds, the machine shuts down on a system safety fault. A count that keeps climbing on a machine that has not shut down points at a problem getting worse, like a tower starting to stick, a switch going bad or a wire rubbing through. It is worth finding before it strands the machine. You or your dealer can look for a stuck tower, a flat tire or a failed gearbox.
